About Us
We are just an everyday, average couple living a very deliberate life out in the country with a bunch of animals. He was raised in the city but was "country at heart", rode in high school rodeos and loved horses. As an adult he spent his weekends at rodeos bull-dogging and team-penning and later joined the fire department rodeo team. I grew up in the country, learned to ride before I could walk and moved to the city as an adult. Both of us took jobs in care-taker fields. I worked many years in hospitals and his career for almost 30 years was that of a professional firefighter in a major metropolitian area. When we met, I already had six horses. I also had my own small business giving riding lessons, taking guests on trail rides and camping trips. Since then, we have been completely inseparable.
Our life together has been centered around our many animals. We've picked up many stray dogs over the years and have been able to get all except one of them into a rescue program to be placed up for adoption in hope of getting a forever home. We have taken in countless cats/kittens over the years. Currently we have a dozen cats living at the ranch. All of them have been spayed or neutered. As for the horses, of my original herd, most were purchased to get them out of the hands of people who neglected or abused them. It is our intention to help as many horses at possible, whether by temporarily providing them a safe haven in which they can recover from their previous neglect/abuse or by giving them a forever home at The Triple O.
Currently, horse sanctuaries are in great demand as the number of horses suffering from abuse and nelect steadily increases. Low selling prices often lead to horses being sold into the slaughter market which, obviously we are totally against. Every state I have lived in, I have had to report people to the local law enforcement agency for starving their horses. This is true. I do not deny it. I make no apologies for trying to defend the defenseless. It is our mission to make the world a better place.....one horse at a time.
